Licorice candy made in the
United States contains small amounts of licorice, but the main
flavor ingredient of licorice candy is anise.
Licorice imported from Australia, Finland, England
or Holland is
made with real licorice root.
The sweet taste of its yellow root prompted
its use in
the manufacture of candies. It contains vitamin E,
B-complex, biotin, niacin, pantothenic acid, lecithin,
manganese
and other trace elements.
For thousands of years, licorice root has
been sought after for
it's reputed medicinal qualities.
